As part of the objectives of the BID programme for, 'The Forgotten African Islands - Addressing the gap in freshwater biodiversity knowledge for the Indian Ocean Islands', this event will be covering citizen science tools for freshwater biodiversity in the region.

Through an application of voluntary sampling efforts using miniSASS to collect and generate new distribution records of EPT taxa, it is hoped that participation will help to raise awareness of freshwater biodiversity and its importance within the region.

This week-long event will run from the 15th-20th of October 2018 in both Madagascar and Mauritius. Coordination details as well as sample collection/preservation/transport information will be provided soon.

The event is being hosted by GroundTruth in collaboration with the University of Toamasina, the University of Antananarivo, Reef Conservation, CNRE and the Madagascar Biodiversity Centre.
