Botanical roadside monitoring is an easy way to map the wealth of flowers on the roadside. Between 1 May and 1 October streches of at least 100 meter are checked on vascular plants. Dataset available via https://www.ndff.nl/english / serviceteamndff@natuurloket.nl Positive observations without zeros. 25,735 records (March 2018) https://www.ndff.nl/overdendff/validatie/protocollen/12-209-floron-meetnet-bermen/Sampling Description
Study Extent

A roadside that looks more or less similar across its full length.Quality Control
All records are validated by NDFFMethod steps
- Select a moment between 1 May and 1 October
- Choose a suitable roadside: · In a rural area · Bordering a bicycle path or a road · A roadside that looks more or less similar across its full length
- Survey 100 metres of the roadside by stopping every 10 metres (or take 10 large steps) and note the nectar plants within 1 metre of where you are (10 times in total). Non-flowering plants should also be noted. The most common nectar plants are pictured on a special search map. Are you an experienced florist? You can also report other plant species with the observation form.
- Enter the results on floron.nl/bermen. When you enter your results, you will be asked to draw the area you surveyed on a map. After entering your figures, you will see the quality of your roadside on a scale of 1 to 5.
