"All records of otters, Lutra lutra, recorded up to 31 December 2023. Includes records collected directly from individual recorders, as well as those collected by the Highland Biological Recording Group (HBRG). The earliest records date from 1913-1939 and 1940-1970 (literature). OHBR data includes field observations from 1983. Coverage is sporadic until 2000 and thereafter increases steadily. Collation and mobilisation of this dataset has been funded by grants from NatureScot." OHBR maintains a regional database of records of the flora, fungi and fauna of the Outer Hebrides and the surrounding marine areas. Please refer to OHBR website (www.ohbr.org.uk) .

The vice-county of the Outer Hebrides and the surrounding marine areas (in the wider sense) and reflects observer location and activity. The majority of records are shown at six-figure grid references, but precision may vary considerably. This is a protected species and the location is only publicly available at low resolution.
