El proyecto G004 "Los Crustáceos Decápodos Marinos de la Colección Carcinológica" de la Facultad de Ciencias Biológicas, UANL, fue apoyado por la CONABIO en 1995 y actualmente esta colección esta incluida en la base de datos de la REMIB, a través del nodo Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León. Ante la oportunidad de obtener apoyo, que se requiere para una revisión, depuración y actualización de la base de datos, presentamos a la CONABIO esta propuesta. Adicionalmente se incluirán en la misma, datos y registros nuevos que provienen de la recolección e incorporación de material carcinológico marino y costero de ambos litorales mexicanos, que se puede resumir en los siguientes datos: 2,457 registros, 199 localidades, 30,843 ejemplares, 241 especies, 106 géneros y 32 familias de 17 estados costeros de México. Con el fin de asegurar la permanencia y seguimiento de la colección Carcinológica, podemos señalar que dentro del plan de desarrollo institucional de la Facultad de Ciencias Biológicas, UANL, se ha establecido las líneas de investigación y programas relacionados a la biodiversidad de flora y fauna regional o nacional, por lo tanto es de interés prioritario para nuestra Institución, el tener y conservar colecciones biológicas de gran calidad con miras a su reconocimiento nacional e internacional. Sin embargo, para lograr estas metas no sólo se necesita el apoyo institucional, sino que es imprescindible el contar con el apoyo de organismos externos.
