The freshwater pelagic invertebrates collection at the NTNU University Museum dates back to 1951. Its material has been mainly collected in connection with regional mapping of species and nature types as well as effects of anthropogenic impacts, e.g. hydropower regulation, rotenone treatment and metal mine contamination. Today’s collection covers the taxonomical groups Anostraca, Cladocera, Notostraca, Copepoda, Malacostraca, Ploima and represents more than 130 species. The geographic coverage covers essentially mid and northern Norway. The collection has been sampled from more than 1 040 localities (lakes and ponds) with more than 12 140 sampling events.
