The presence of dragonflies and damselflies (Odonata) is taken as an indication of good ecosystem quality. Information on the diversity of Odonata across countries such as East Africa, South Africa, Zambia, America, United Kingdom, and India has been well documented. There is little documentation on Odonates in Nigeria and none in GBIF IPT. This study is part of research on diversity of Nigerian Odonates. It was funded by GBIF (BID-AF2017-0311) and University of Lagos, Nigeria (CRC 2016/21). It involved the Digitization and Mobilization of Odonata of Southern Nigeria, and molecular characterization, DNA barcoding and banking of Odonata of South western Nigeria. So far over 6000 collections have been made comprising of over 190 species. Collections from University of Lagos, Lagos State Nigeria comprised preserved specimens from Okomu forest in Edo State, Eruwa and Lalete towns in Oyo State, Lufasi Park, Omu resorts, University of Lagos, Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF) Ajah and Victoria Garden City (VGC). It comprised a total of 3061 collections made up of 80 species from 5 families, Libellulidae (79%), Coenagrionidae (19%), Gomphidae (< 1%), Calopterygidae (2%), and Aesnidae (< 1%) Chlorocyphidae (< 1%)Taxonomic Coverages
