description
Measurements (in µm). Height of hydrothecae 1550 – 3200; diameter at aperture 800 – 1350. Ecology and distribution. Eurybathic species found at depths from 10 (Naumov & Stepanjants 1972) to 779 m (Peña Cantero 2014 a); present material between 60 and 348 m, epibiotic on Hydractinia sp., Oswaldella stepanjantsae, Staurotheca densa, S. nonscripta and tube of benthic organism, and basibiont for colonies of Lafoea dumosa. Circum-Antarctic distribution (Peña Cantero et al. 2004). Recently reported from off Deception and Livingston islands (Peña Cantero 2008), Peter I Island (Peña Cantero 2010 b) and the South Sandwich Islands (Soto Àngel & Peña Cantero 2015), in West Antarctica, and off Queen Mary Coast (Peña Cantero 2014 a), in East Antarctica. In the Ross Sea, already known from McMurdo (Hickson & Gravely 1907; Ritchie 1913; Totton 1930), Cape Royds (Ritchie 1913) and Cape Adare (Totton 1930). Present material collected in Robertson Bay and off Cape Adare, Adare Peninsula and Moubray Bay.
