Not for profit network of biodiveristy researchers that primarily use molecular tools to study marine systems.Purpose
The Indo-Pacific is the largest biogeographic region in the world and encompasses the greatest concentration of marine biodiversity. Numerous challenges have impeded the development of comprehensive interdisciplinary research programs that consider the region as a whole. Genetic methods can provide insights regarding evolutionary processes from scales of ocean basins to kilometers and from geologic to modern times. Founded in 2012 the Diversity of the Indo-Pacific Network (DIPnet) was created to advance genetic diversity research in the Indo-Pacific Oceans by aggregating (published) population genetic data into a searchable database so that original datasets can be utilized to address questions concerning conservation of marine biodiversity. It is our aim to promote collaboration and advocate best practices for conducting biodiversity research.
