Biology. Primary parasitoid of the dipteran Masakimyia pustulae Yukawa et Sunose, 1976 (Cecidomyiidae) (Kamijo 1981; Sunose 1984; Noyes 2015); lepidopterans Caloptilia theivora (Walsingham, 1891) (Lee et al. 1995; Noyes 2015), Spulerina corticola Kumata, 1964 (Kamijo 1981; Sunose 1984; Noyes 2015), Metriochroa sp. (Gracillariidae) (Sunose 1984; Noyes 2015) and Cymolomia hartigiana (Saxesen, 1840) (Tortricidae) (Kamijo 1981; Sunose 1984; Noyes 2015). Secondary parasitoid of Protapanteles liparidis (Bouche, 1834) (Hymenoptera, Braconidae) (Kamijo 1981; Sunose 1984; Noyes 2015). Comparative diagnosis. This species is very similar to S. nigriceps; the differences between these species are showed in the respective keys to the sexes.
