The Ant Hunt was a citizen science project that ran in Denmark from April 1st-October 1st in 2017 and 2018, with a pilot testing in 2015. The project aimed to engage children age 8-11 in scientific discovery during school hours and especially outside school with their family. Participants collected ants using 2-hour baiting experiments. The project was run by the Natural History Museum of Denmark and the Center for Macroecology, Evolution and Climate at Copenhagen University, who received the collected specimens and validated the species.Purpose
This data set was created through a citizen science project and is intended for scientific use.

Ants were identified by trained personnel at the Natural History Museum of Denmark. Data information was crossvalidated by comparing online data information with the handwritten datasheets supplied with the ants sent in to the museum.Method steps
