This dataset is the databased part of the Hemiptera from the entomological collections of the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle (Paris). Alongside to the Thysanoptera, the Hemiptera collection is organized in 4 large units: Sternorrhyncha, Fulgoromorpha, Cicadomorpha and Heteroptera. The general collection is completed by nominal collections (Bagnall, Bergevin, Cohic, Dlabola, Mamet, Goux, Noualhier, Puton, Ribaut, Sorin…). This set, gathering over 7 million specimens and including 7.000 holotypes, is one of the asset of the Muséum entomological collection. From 30 to 70% of the 100.000 species described can be found in the collection, constituting therefore a major primary taxonomic information resource without equivalent in any other collection. The Palearctic and Afro-tropical regions are especially well represented, as well as Madagascar, the Réunion Island, New Caledonia, French Antilles, and French Guiana. The specimens are stored in dry, alcohol or microscopical preparations.
