Description
CSIRO is the custodian of several collections of animal and plant specimens that contribute to national and international biological knowledge. The Australian National Biological Collections underpin the discovery, inventory, understanding and conservation of Australia's plant and animal biodiversity. The National Biological collections managed by CSIRO are listed below. Together they constitute a vast storehouse of information about Australia's biodiversity. They underpin a significant part of the country's taxonomic, genetic, agricultural, ecological and biosecurity research. They are therefore vital resources which can inform decision making in conservation and the development of sustainable land management systems.Contacts
