diagnostic
Dorsal surface is rather flat with moderately developed ribs. Nor keels along lateral sides, and margin of upper lip and shell body form an irregular line by incision at basis of upper lip. Upper lip is truncated. Aperture irregular triangular in shape. Caudal spine is straight and long. Ventral side is moderately vaulted. Shell structure consisting of faint growth lines and very faint transverse striation. [van der Spoel, 1976]

It inhabits predominantly the surface to 300-400 m layer. [Bate, 1861].
