description
Smoothcheek Sculpin. To 38.8 cm (15.3 in) TL (Lindberg and Krasyukova 1987). Seas of Japan and Okhotsk, and Pacific coast of Hokkaido, Japan, to Commander – Aleutian Chain, and Bering Sea, Alaska, to eastern Chukchi Sea (70 ° 26 ’ N, 164 ° 38 ’ W) (Mecklenburg et al. 2018), to Cook Inlet, northern Gulf of Alaska (Maslenikov et al. 2013). Benthic; depth: at least 2 – 180 m (7 – 590 ft) (min.: Chereshnev et al. 2001; max.: Panchenko et al. 2016). Mecklenburg et al. (2018), citing others, give maximum depths ranging from 400 – 500 m (1,312 – 1,640 ft).
