Records of the sponge Pheronema (P. carpenteri and P. grayi) were identified from records from across the North East Atlantic and Mediterranean. The sampled areas span across more than 40 degrees of latitude: from Cape Verde off the coast of Senegal; to the Cantabrian Sea and the Mediterranean; to the sea-mounts and subtidal deep-water basins littering the sea off the North West coast of Scotland. The authors compiled presence and distribution records for both species over the course of 56 years (1960-2016).Sampling Description
