Positive reactions are obtained for gelatinase and β-galactosidase in API 20 NE, and negative reactions are obtained for nitrate reduction, indole production, glucose fermentation, arginine dihydrolase, urease and esculin hydrolysis. Dglucose, Larabinose, Dmannose, Dmannitol, N acetylglucosamine, Dmaltose, potassium gluconate, adipic acid, malic acid, trisodium citrate and phenylacetic acid are utilized. Dose not utilize capric acid. Strain RK 4 Y 5 1 (= NIBRBA 0000113994) was isolated from a sample of ginseng field, Iljuk, Anseong, Korea.
