Ecology and distribution. Previously known from 49 (Peña Cantero 2008) to 2043 m (Peña Cantero 2012); present material found between 82 and 360 m. Circum-Antarctic species (Stepanjants 1979).

ANT XV / 3: 48 - 44, several stems, up to 30 mm high, with gonothecae; 48 - 77, few stems, up to 5 mm high, on H. jaederholmi; 48 - 168, few stems, up to 66 mm high, with gonothecae; 48 - 222; several stems, up to 25 mm high, with gonothecae; ANT XXI / 2: PS 65 / 121, few stems, up to 30 mm high, on Sc. nana; PS 65 / 237, few stems, up to 9 mm high; PS 65 / 248, one colony, up to 45 mm high, on octocoral, with developing gonothecae; PS 65 / 281, few stems, up to 15 mm high.
