description
Blackline Prickleback or Pighead Prickleback. To 70 cm (27.6 in) SL (Amaoka and Miki in Masuda et al. 1984). Seas of Okhotsk and Japan; Pacific coast of Hokkaido, Kuril Islands, and south-eastern Kamchatka; Canadian Beaufort Sea (Phillips Bay to Wood Bay), eastern Chukchi Sea, eastern Bering Sea, Aleutian Islands, and Gulf of Alaska. No records from Alaskan Beaufort Sea (Mecklenburg et al. 2016). Benthic; marine and brackish waters (Dyldin and Orlov 2017); depth: 0.6 – 200 m (2 – 656 ft) (min.: Mecklenburg et al. 2018; max.: Coad in Coad and Reist 2018).
