description
Arctic Shanny. To 22 cm (8.7 in) TL (Eschmeyer and Herald 1983). East Siberian, Chukchi, and Beaufort Seas east to Greenland and Gulf of Maine (not in eastern North Atlantic), and south to Seas of Okhotsk and Japan to Skidegate Inlet, British Columbia, including Commander – Aleutian Chain (Mecklenburg et al. 2016). A larval Arctic shanny was reported taken off Oregon (Personal communication: University of Washington, Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture Fish Collection, Seattle, Washington). Benthic; shallow subtidal (to as shallow as at least 6 m (20 ft) (Pirtle et al. 2012 )) to 100 m (328 ft) (Mecklenburg et al. 2016).
