Positive for nitrate reduction, but negative for indole production, glucose fermentation, arginine dihydrolase, urease, esculin hydrolysis, gelatin hydrolysis and β - galactosidase in API 20 NE. D-Glucose, potassium gluconate, malic acid and trisodium citrate are utilized as sole carbon sources, but not L-arabinose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, N-acetyl-glucosamine, D-maltose, capric acid, adipic acid and phenylacetic acid.
