Description

This dataset contains the records of wasps belonging to UWIZM’s land arthropod collection. There are 5248 wasp specimens spanning eight families. These specimens are all stored in the Land Arthropod Room of the UWIZM.

Specimen identifications were checked by the UWIZM.

Method steps

1. Specimens in the collection were assessed for existing data (pinned labels, etc) 2. Identifications were confirmed or made using a variety of literature sources (scientific papers, books, online resources) 3. Specimens were properly stored then the data was uploaded to the UWIZM Past Perfect database. Some specimens were photographed.

Taxonomic Coverages

All specimens belong to the order Hymenoptera, suborder Apocrita. Most wasps were identified from family to species/subspecies level.
