The Taiwan Forestry Research Institute has one of the most important insect collections in Taiwan, with the earliest specimens collected in August 1910 and more than a century old. Since the Taiwan Restoration, our insect experts such as Ying-Lie Yang and Yu-Jen Chang have collected many species that have disappeared and precious specimens. In the early years, due to the lack of funds and space, the specimens were scattered and were not centralized until 1993. The new insect herbarium was completed in 2000, and all specimens were moved into a collection environment of international standard. Since then, the "Specimen Barcoding System" and "Database Management System" have been completed one by one, and digital images of the specimens in the collection have been established.Taxonomic Coverages
