Description

The dataset includes occurrences of 57 plant species from «Striltsivskyi steppe» compartment of the Luhansk Nature Reserve of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and its buffer zone. The groups of species were selected for mapping: 1) 28 species protected at the international, state or regional level, while not being background for the reserve; 2) 22 species not protected, but rarely or locally found on the territory of the reserve; 3) 7 alien species naturalized from culture or introduced spontaneously.

Sampling

Field mapping was carried using the Garmin eTrex Vista Cx GPS navigator. Descriptions of points were entered into the “Flora LPZ” database developed by the author (Gouz, 2008). Data collection method has been published (Gouz, 2009).

Geographic Coverages

Luhansk Nature Reserve is located in eastern Ukraine, in Luhansk region. The «Striltsivskyi steppe» compartment with an area of 1036.51 ha is located in Milovsky district of Luhansk region, on the southeastern foothills of the Middle Russian Highland, in the basin of the left tributaries of the Siverskyi Donets river. The reserve was created to preserve of the Marmota bobak population and a typical area of the Pontic herb bunchgrass steppes.
