DFO Quebec Region Biodiversity of the snow crab trawl survey in the St. Lawrence Estuary (2019)

Study Extent

Sampling was done at 66 stations using beam trawl tows at depths of 33-279 m. The survey is carried out between July 7 and July 26, 2019. A fixed station sampling plan was used to cover the study area/ Échantillonnage réalisé à 66 stations au moyen de traits de chalut à perche (aussi connu sous le nom de chalut à bâton) de 31-279 m de profondeur. Le relevé était effectué entre le 7 et le 26 juillet 2019. Un plan d’échantillonnage à stations fixes était utilisé pour couvrir la zone d’étude.

Sampling

The presence of the species in the catch was recorded. A beam trawl 2.8 m wide by about 0.76 m high was used. The codend was lined with a 16 mm stretched mesh net in order to collect small individuals. The width of the trawl and the distance traveled calculated from the start and end positions of the haul are used to determine the area swept per haul. The duration of the tow is 10 to 15 minutes / La présence des espèces dans la capture était enregistrée. Un chalut à perche de 2,8 m de largeur par environ 0,76 m de hauteur a été utilisé. Le cul du chalut était doublé avec un filet de mailles étirées de 16 mm afin de récolter les petits individus. La largeur du chalut et la distance parcourue calculée à partir des positions de début et de fin de trait sont utilisées pour déterminer la surface balayée par trait de chalut. La durée du trait est de 10 à 15 minutes.

Quality Control

Photos for taxon confirmation were taken for some specimens; names were validated with World Register of Marine Species (WoRMS) / Des photos étaient prises pour confirmer les taxons pour certains spécimens; les noms ont été validés avec le registre mondial des espèces marines (WoRMS).
