The 7th GBIF Asia Regional Nodes Meeting was organised and hosted by The Biodiversity Management Bureau, Department of Evironment and Natural Resources, Philippines. The meeting was an opportunity for Asia Nodes to update the team on work progress related to the Asia Regional Strategy, the status of implementation of Biodiversity Information Fund for Asia (BIFA) projects, and vote on the next set of Asia representatives.
Relevant discussions included: accelerating discovery of undigitized NHCs and alignment of the Asia Regional Strategy with the GBIF Strategic Plan and Work Programme that incorporated suggestions of the Asia Nodes representatives. Discussion on the future implementation of the GBIF Asia Nodes included proposals for BIFA Phase 2 that should align with the new priorities identified with the updates proposed for the Asia Regional Strategy, plans for BIFA project‐generated the Biodiversity Informatics curriculum workshop and GBIF Asia and its contribution to the revised Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs) process.
