The workshop objective was to present the participants how GBIF and other organizations worldwide are using the computer science technology in the integration and dissemination of the biodiversity data that exist around the world. Additionally, to provide the participants with the theoretical and practical knowledge required to use a system whose database structure is Darwin Core compliant, reason why the data can be published without much effort on the GBIF Network. As an example, a system developed by INBio for managing the herbaria specimen records was used. This system is in process of being adapted to work with other biological collections data.
