Description

The Center was created in accordance with the Decree of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences dated December 9, 1991 No. 309. CEPF RAS conducts fundamental, exploratory and applied research in the following areas: (1) assessment of the ecosystem functions of Russian forests and their resource-ecological potential; (2) research on the biological diversity, productivity and sustainability of forest ecosystems; (3) forest monitoring using aerospace methods and geoinformation technologies; (4) mathematical modeling of the dynamics of forest ecosystems. Initially, it is planned to publish data on the vegetation and marofauna of soils obtained on the territory of Russia in the study of forests of different types, different status and age. Particular attention is paid to the old-growth forests of the Urals, the Caucasus and the Far East.
