Altai Botanical Garden

Description

The Altai Botanical Garden is the only introduction center in the East Kazakhstan region. The garden was organized by the Decree of the Presidium of KAZFAN of the USSR dated January 7, 1935 № ½. Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated March 1, 2010 № 151 “On some issues of republican state enterprises of the Science Committee of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan established the Republican State Enterprise on the right of economic management “Altai Botanical Garden” of the Science Committee of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Based on the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated November 10, 2007, № 1074, the Altai Botanical Garden was included in the list of specially protected natural areas. The area of the garden is 154.2 hectares. The purpose of the Enterprise is to conduct fundamental, applied and innovative research in the field of phytointroduction and botany to gain new knowledge about the value of plants; enrichment of the gene pool, development of breeding technologies for promising introducers, organization and implementation of the regime of a specially protected natural area in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The main activity of the Enterprise is aimed at developing the scientific foundations for enriching the gene pool of plants in Kazakhstan, its ex-situ conservation, the conservation of the biological diversity of other regional and regional floras, the scientific foundations for rational environmental management, the digitalization of scientific research results, and the commercialization of scientific developments.
