Description provided by [89]. B. mellifer grows over a wide temperature range (15 – 50 ° C) and pH values (pH 3 – 12) but ferments only few hexoses, sucrose and raffinose [89]. The genome size is 1.82 Mbp. The mol % G + C content of DNA is 39.5. Isolated from isolated from the honey stomach of the honeybee Apis mellifera.
