Additional info
This resource provides access to data in the University of California Museum of Paleontology collections. We update taxonomy and check specimen identifications and associated information, but outdated names, mistaken identifications, and erroneous localities inevitably occur. We urge investigators to verify all data by direct examination of the specimens, and we appreciate notification of discrepancies (ucmp_data@uclink.berkeley.edu). Investigators are strongly encouraged to personally verify data before using it as a basis for publication. For additional information, see VertNet Norms for Data Use and Publication.Taxonomic Coverages
The University of California collections covers all the kingdoms of life and is organized into four main subdivisions, Protists and Prokaryotes (microfossils), paleobotany (plants), vertebrate paleontology (vertebrate animals), and invertebrate paleontology (animals lacking a backbone).
