Lactobacillusrodentium (ro. den‘ti. um. L. gen. pl. n. rodentium of gnawers, referring to the fact that the micro-organism was isolated from wild rodents). Lactobacillusrodentium utilizes glucose, fructose, maltose, melibiose and sucrose, but not ribose, mannitol or trehalose [108]. Thegenome size is 1.52 Mbp and the mol % G + C content of DNA is 34.0. Isolated from the colon of wild mice (Mus musculus) and other rodent species [55, 108].
