discussion
Remarks. According to the revision of the scalpellids by Zevina (1981 a), Scalpellum imperfectum (Pilsbry, 1907 a: 75, fig. 30, pl. IV, figs 15 – 18) is accepted as a synonym of Verum carinatum. However, the details of the plates differ, in particular the V-shaped tergum of S. imperfectum differs from that of S. carinatum. The description of the appendages in Zevina (1981 a) was translated from Pilsbry (1907 a) and may not be related to V. carinatum. A redescription of this species is needed.
