description
The description is as given for the genus with the following additions. Colonies are approximately 1 – 2 mm in diameter after growth for 48 h at 30 Ǫ C on TSA (pH 7). Coccoid cells, about 1.2 – 1.5 µm in diameter. Growth occurs between 10 and 37 Ǫ C and pH 6 and pH 10, with optima of 28 – 30 Ǫ C and pH 7.0 – 8.0. Growth occurs with 0 – 4 % (w / v) NaCl, with optimum of 2 %. Negative for b- galactosidase, arginine dihydrolase, lysine decarboxylase, ornithine decarboxylase, urease, tryptophan deaminase and gelatinase activities and production of acetoin, indole and H 2 S. Citrate is not utilized. The following carbon sources are utilized at 28 Ǫ C (Biolog GP 2): dextrin, N - acetyl-D- glucosamine, D- fructose, a- D- glucose, maltotriose, D- mannitol, D- mannose, b- methyl D- galactoside, a- methyl D- glucoside, D- psicose, salicin, trehalose, a- hydroxybutyric acid, a- ketoglutaric acid, D- lactic acid methyl ester, L- glutamic acid, glycyl L- glutamic acid, glycerol, adenosine 2 ’ - deoxyadenosine, D- galactose, turanose, L- malic acid, methyl pyruvate, succinic acid, 2,3 - butanediol and thymidine. Acid is produced from D- glucose, D- fructose, aesculin ferric citrate. eakly positive results for acid production from D- melezitose, D- turanose and D- lyxose. Variable reactions are observed for acid production from trehalose, sucrose and salicin (API 50 CHB / E, negative for the type strain). ositive for alkaline phosphatase, esterase lipase (C 8), leucine arylamidase and b - glucosidase activities. Variable reactions are observed for esterase (C 4) and valine arylamidase (negative for the type strain) activities. The type strain is 26 D 10 - 3 - 4 T (= CFCC 12725 T = KCTC 33575 T), isolated from symptomatic bark tissue of a Populus × euramericana canker. The DNA G + C content of the type strain is 38.2 mol %. An additional strain of the species is 9 - 4 - 1.
