description
Description: — Filaments straight, curved, flexuose or wavy, solitary, one filament per sheath. Filaments pale blue-green to dark green. Filaments slightly constricted at cross-walls, slightly wider on the apical part of filament. Sheaths are thick, colorless. Cells barrel shaped and with central granules in cells. Apical cell is rounded without calyptra. Morphology of filaments change during the life cycle. The morphology of young filaments similar to Leptolyngbya corticola or L. boryana (Gomont) Anagnostidis & Komárek (1988: 391), but when older similar to Phormidesmis.
etymology
Etymology: — Lepto - refers to thin or frail and - desmis means chain.
