Faunistic and floristic records in Belarusian Polissia in 2017-2018

Study Extent

Part of the material was collected during the implementation of the project: Identifiaction of potential Emerald Network Sites in the Polessie region with the financial support of the Frankfurt Zoological Society.

Sampling

The material was collected during field excursions along pre-planned routes. Bird counts were carried out using vocal stimulation. Field work was carried out in April-May 2017, March-August 2018 on the territory of Kormyansky, Chechersky, Svetlogorsky, Vetka, Gomel, Dobrush and Khoiniki districts of the Gomel region, the Republic of Belarus.

Quality Control

The author is fully responsible for the quality of data provided within the published dataset.

Method steps

1. Conducting of field research.
2. Vocal stimulation of birds in order to get vocal response and identify the species.
3. Visual identification of specific composition of flora and fauna.
4. Georeferencing.
5. Organizing of the datatset according to Darwin Core standards.

The dataset consists of the records of the following taxonomic groups of living organisms: Insecta, Reptilia, Aves, Mammalia, Lycopodiopsida, Liliopsida, Magnoliopsida, Bryopsida, Jungermanniopsida, Polypodiopsida, Agaricomycetes.

The study area covers the territory of eastern and south-eastern Polissia of Belarus. This area includes also the following Areas of special conservation interest (ASCI's): Iput (BY0000024), Vydritsa (BY0000054), Vetkovskiy (BY0000118), Strumenskiy (BY0000046), Checherskiy (BY0000138), as well as forest complexes within Kormyanskiy, Checherskiy, Svetlogorskiy, Vetkovskiy, Gomelskiy, Dobrush and Khoiniki districts of the Gomel region, Belarus.
