Since 1994, monitoring has been carried out to observe migration phenology and quantify the abundance of migratory eels in the Scorff basin. In the downstream part of the Scorff River, a trapping system (2 traps) control silver eel migration. On this occasion, biometric characteristics are developed to characterize the population in order to feed this data set.Purpose
Monitoring of eels migration.
Sampling Description
Study Extent
Silver eels have been monitored since 1994.The two traps are surveyed in the morning every day throughout the year on the River Scorff in Brittany.Sampling
Silver eels have been monitored by trapping at the Tan Mill, downstream trap operating the whole year and Leslé Mill during less than 2 month. Traps configuration allows only partial capture depending on the flow.Method steps
- Silver eels have been monitored since 1994 by trapping at the Tan Mill, downstream trap operating the whole year. Trap configuration allows only partial capture depending on the flow. A second trap at Leslé Mill installed for smolt trapping (april- may) allows the accidental capture of a few eels.
