Meeting goals

The Africa nodes meeting aims to:

  • Strengthen the GBIF Africa community
  • Provide a forum for GBIF nodes in Africa and the GBIF Secretariat to share latest updates and best practices
  • Showcase the relevance of GBIF data across a broad range of use cases
  • Identify key regional capacity and information needs to inform the development of the upcoming Biodiversity Information for Development (BID) call for proposals in the region
  • Identify and explore opportunities for synergies between BID and any existing or upcoming regional-scale initiatives related to biodiversity data training, mobilization or other activities
  • Encourage participation in the calls for proposals by project applicants and reviewers, mentors, trainers and other partners

Audience

This event will be attended by representatives of:

  • GBIF nodes in Africa
  • Relevant regional initiatives and networks
  • Selected institutions previously involved in the BID programme
