Meeting goals
The Africa nodes meeting aims to:
- Strengthen the GBIF Africa community
- Provide a forum for GBIF nodes in Africa and the GBIF Secretariat to share latest updates and best practices
- Showcase the relevance of GBIF data across a broad range of use cases
- Identify key regional capacity and information needs to inform the development of the upcoming Biodiversity Information for Development (BID) call for proposals in the region
- Identify and explore opportunities for synergies between BID and any existing or upcoming regional-scale initiatives related to biodiversity data training, mobilization or other activities
- Encourage participation in the calls for proposals by project applicants and reviewers, mentors, trainers and other partners
Audience
This event will be attended by representatives of:
- GBIF nodes in Africa
- Relevant regional initiatives and networks
- Selected institutions previously involved in the BID programme
