Actualización del inventario de peces dulceacuícolas del río Papaloapan

Description

El río Papaloapán, que alcanza una longitud aproximada de novecientos kilómetros, es uno de los ecosistemas más ricos del planeta y el segundo más caudaloso del país El río sufre graves problemas de contaminación debido a los deshechos químicos que vierten en él fábricas, ingenios y plantas industriales. También son causa de deterioro la basura y los desagües que provienen de las poblaciones ribereñas, así como los cientos de desperdicios que son abandonados en las laderas. A la fecha se tiene cerca de 375 registros en colecciones extranjeras (UMMZ, CAS, AMNH y otras) y 371 más en la Colección Nacional de Peces Dulceacuícolas Mexicanos (ENCB-IPN-P). Sin embargo, los registros más recientes son del año 1983 y además la parte oriental de la cuenca no ha sido explorada del todo. Dado los graves problemas ambientales de la cuenca, se hace relevante actualizar el estado de la diversidad íctica de la cuenca. El objetivo general del proyecto es enriquecer el conocimiento de la biodiversidad de peces dulceacuícolas en la cuenca del Papaloapán y contribuir a su conservación. Los productos por obtener son: Un inventario faunístico a nivel específico de al menos el 80 %la ictiofauna dulceacuícola actual que habita los tributarios del río Papaloapán justo antes de llegar a las lagunas costeras de este sistema hidrológico. Un catálogo fotográfico a nivel específico de las especies capturadas. Obtener al menos 300 nuevos registros en 30 localidades. Integrar la información generada en una base de datos de acuerdo a los requerimientos del Sistema Nacional de Información sobre Biodiversidad. Elaborar Mapas de distribución de las especies capturadas en la cuenca del Papaloapán utilizando el programa Biotica
