Type locality: Azores (38 ° 23 ’ 00 ” N, 28 ° 49 ’ 46 ” W). See: Koehler (1906 a, b); Paterson (1985). Occurrence: Northeast Atlantic, known for the Azores (Koehler 1906 b), Madeira (Jesus & Abreu 1998), Rockall Bank (Gage et al. 1983) and Portuguese mainland (Jesus & Fonseca 1999). Depth: 75 – 560 m (Koehler 1906 b, Jesus & Abreu 1998); AZO: 560 m (Koehler, 1906 b). Habitat: soft bottoms, sandy gravel to muddy sediments (Koehler 1906 b, Jesus & Fonseca 1999). Remarks: Ophiura imprudens is only known from the archipelago by the type specimen. See also remarks under O. carnea L ̹ tken, 1858.
