Distribution Native to Western Europe and Mediterranean region, now cosmopolitan (Cowie 2000). This is the NIS with the oldest occurrence records in Chile (Philippi 1885) and the introduced species with the largest distribution in the country, found in this work (Tables 1, 2) from Iquique (20 ° S) to Chiloé Island (43 ° S).
