diagnosis
Diagnosis. Adult dorsal shield entire, robust, broad, without lateral incisions. Idiosomal setae simple. Female with sternal shield consolidated with endopodal sclerites between coxae I – II, and with free endopodal fragments between coxae II – III and free strongly developed strips between coxae III – IV; male sternitigenital shield fused with all endopodal sclerites beside coxae II – IV. Female with an apomorphically expansive ventrianal shield encompassing metapodal platelets anterolaterally and including setae JV 1 anteriorly. Male with sternitigenital shield abutting an expansive ventrianal shield that incorporates metapodal platelets. Peritreme slightly shortened, its margins smooth. Subcapitulum with narrow deutosternal groove; hypostomatic setae hp - 1 and hp - 3 not elongated and whip-like. Palp trochanter setae similar in size. Genu III with only seven setae (lacking pv - 1). Male spermatodactyl short, tube-like. Tarsus I with claws. None of setae on tarsi II to IV conspicuously differentiated by shape or size. Genera included: Maxinia.
