description
Arrowtail, Black Pelagic Cod, or Coalfish. To 29.4 cm (11.6 in) TL (Henriques et al. 2001). Circumglobal; western Pacific Ocean north to Honshu, Japan (Nakabo in Nakabo 2002), and Russian north-western Pacific (Orlov and Tokranov 2019); near Alaska off Dixon Entrance, northern British Columbia (Love et al. 2005), southern British Columbia (Peden 1975), and northern Washington to southern California (NWFSC-FRAM) to northern Chile (21 ° 05 ’ S, 71 ° 07 ’ W) (Meléndez and Sielfeld 1991). Oceanic, mainly mesopelagic and bathypelagic; depth: 0 – 3,000 m (9,840 ft) (min: Moore et al. 2003; max.: Mundy 2005).
