Vamize and Ibo islands corals dry collection MHNM

Study Extent

The dataset conatains information of specimens on the corals dry collection of Natural History Museum of Maputo, that information was digitalized and database created.

Sampling

The collection contains specimens collected in the Vamizi Island, north coastal region of Cabo Delgado Province, Mozambique. It was deposited in the Natural History Museum of Maputo, and information of each specimen tag was digitalized. The specimens in this collection were sampled from 2003 to 2007, though scuba diving.

Quality Control

Specimens were checked individually and all the data available in the catalog and data sheets for each specimen was confirmed and digitized. Taxonomy and systematic of specimens in this collection were extensively revised and updated by Alvaro Vetina (collection curator) and team.

This collection includes 170 records referring to specimens of the order Scleractinea, Class Antozoa, that represent 12 families with at least 66 identified species for Mozambique.
