Description

Releve data from a historical-ecological study of the amphibious vegetation of shallow lakes at Turnhout, Belgium. Releves are comprised from the study period (1999, by Floris Vanderhaeghe) and from older times (1973-1993, by Geert De Blust and including 1 releve by Herman Stieperaere). Many of these phytocoenoses belong to the Littorelletea class.

De gracht aan de NO-zijde van de Bremstraat (ZWBr) E. Zwart Water Ven Oost (ZWO) F. Zwart Water Afvoerplas (ZWAF) G. Kleine Klotteraard West (KKW) H. Grote Klotteraard(GK) I. Kleine Klotteraard Oost (KKO) J. Haverven (HV) K. ZW-top van Haverven, ten oosten van de Steenweg op Baarle-Hertog (HVZW) L. NO-top van Haverven, ten oosten van het Bels Lijntje M. Zandven (ZV) N. Sampling

Classic releve with the modified scale of Barkman, Doing en Segal (Barkman et al. 1964).

Quality Control

Quality control took place to check consistency between data on paper and data entered in the original Turboveg database.

Method steps

Vegetation releve data was recorded first in a local Turboveg database, and later on migrated to the InboVeg database. This data was mapped to Darwin Core by creating a specific view. We mapped the data to Darwin core event, Darwin Core occurrence extension and Darwin Core Measurements or Facts for the specific Relevé data. In our sandbox ipt the releve data is also mapped to Darwin Core GBIF releve. This data is only available on http://oefendata.inbo.be/ipt/resource?r=inboveg_niche_vlaanderen

Turnhout, Flanders, Belgium The Turnhout's shallow lake area is one of the most important heathlands in Flanders with many valuable shallow lakes and heathlands. These heathlands are the biotope of rare plants and animals that have specifically adapted to this environment.
