Description
PATACHE: Project Financed by the mining company Doña Inés de Collahuasi. Characterization of the structure of phytoplanktónic community present in the zone of the port, mining project Collahuasi. The studies related to the characterization of the phytoplanktonic community in Patache sector began with the elaboration of a line base to evaluate the possible impact that there would cause in the system the activities involved in the Project Collahuasi. The results allowed detecting a community structure similar to described for other coastal zones. Besides, there was detected a composition of species, abundance and biomass, typical of a phytoplankton of systems influenced by events of upwelling, where the domineering group is that of the diatomeas. The variability of the upwelling governs significantly the behavior sucessional of the phytoplankton, which meets reflected during the different analyzed epochs. In base of the previous thing, the knowledge of the fluctuations of the phytoplankton in the time and spatially, is fundamental to understand the possible changes that it can suffer for action antropogenic. The execution of monitorings allows to establish this way the variations " normal or not " that could suffer this complex group. CHIPANA 2003: Internal project DI05-03 (Financed by the Direction of Investigation of the University Arturo Prat). Variability to mesoscale of the physical and chemical structure that modulates the processes of fertilization, concentration and food availability in an area of spawning of Engraulis ringens (21°15'S - 21°21'S) during the maximum reproductive period. Considering the precedents of the adjacent zone to the Loa river, as an area of retention of eggs and larval of Engraulis ringens, the present project tries to analyze this reproductive habitat depending on the factors that would distinguish it like favorably for the development of the first stage of this species. On the base of the previous thing there will be characterized the patterns of circulation of the zone and the physical structure and chemistry associated with the variability of the winds and to the intensity of the processes of outcrop. The response of the phytoplankton will be evaluated and zooplankton to the physical scenario, across the measurement of the fluctuations space-temporal to improve abundances and biomasses in different fractions of size. With the available information the structure of the component ictioplanktonic will be analyzed, establishing if there are fulfilled the suitable conditions that determine this zone as an area of spawning and breeding depending on the triad of factors. CHIPANA 2004-2005: Internal project DIF22/04 (Financed by the Direction of Investigation of the University Arturo Prat). Program of follow-up and evaluation of the conditions bioceanographics and early stages of Engraulis ringens in one of the principal areas of spawning of the north of Chile: Bay Chipana (21°20'S). On the base of the information obtained during 2003 we propose a program of monitoring of the environmental conditions that favor the presence and high concentration of larval in the zone of the Loa river, depending on the quality and quantity of the food. Monthly we will realize the samplings on three stations (1, 3 and 5 mn of the coast) where there will be obtained vertical profiles of temperature and salinity. Besides, there will be characterized the chemical and biological structure of the water column, across the measurements of oxygen dissolved and nutrients, and the composition and abundance and biomass of fractions autotrofic and heterotrofic, putting emphasis in all the forms that constitute an article nourishing for the larval of anchoveta.
