Join us for the December Data Use Club to hear about the research of the two 2024 GBIF Graduate Researchers Award winners. The Graduate Researchers Award (formerly Young Researchers Award) is an annual scholarship programme that promotes and encourages innovation in biodiversity-related research using data shared through the GBIF network. Since bestowing its first awards in 2010, the programme has recognized outstanding achievements in original biodiversity research by more than two dozen Master’s and PhD students around the world.

2024 Graduate Researcher Award recipients

Ross Stewart, South African PhD candidate from the University of Johannesburg, will present his research which combines DNA barcoding data on flying insects with phenological data on flowering plants to explore how climate change may be changing the timing of interactions between these species across South Africa.

Paola Monguilod Brun, Spanish Masters student from University of Zaragoza, will present her research which investigates how climate change is intensifying the risks posed by invasive alien species (IAS) to human health.

Comments and questions can be addressed to datause@gbif.org. This event will be recorded and the recording made available in the week after the event.
