Description
The Symbiota Support Hub (SSH) provides comprehensive services for active and developing biodiversity data portals powered by- the Symbiota software platform. The SSH is particularly focused on providing a low-barrier digitization and data management software option to global collections communities that wish to begin publishing their data to GBIF and other aggregators. SSH services include: (1) Hosting and management of Symbiota data portals and images; (2) development and implementation of novel biodiversity data tools; (3) coordination and training among and within Symbiota portal communities; (4) helpdesk support to facilitate effective use of Symbiota; and (5) collaborative efforts to set up new data portals, for instance in the context of the GBIF Biodiversity Information for Development (BID) and Biodiversity Information Fund for Asia (BIFA) programs. The Symbiota Support Hub is operated within the Biodiversity Knowledge Integration Center (BioKIC) and the Global Futures Laboratory at Arizona State University (ASU). Launched in the Fall of 2021, the SSH is furthermore integrated with and supported by iDigBio (https://www.idigbio.org/), the U.S. Integrated Digitized Biocollections hub.Contacts
