description
Bigeye Squaretail. To 50 cm (19.7 in) SL (Haedrich in Whitehead et al. 1986). Circumglobal; western Pacific Ocean north to eastern Japan (larvae and juveniles) (Okamoto et al. 2001); North Pacific Gyre (32 ° 53 ’ N, 140 ° 17 ’ W) (Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California); in eastern Pacific Ocean from central Baja California (28 ° N) (Watson in Moser 1996) to Chile (Pequeño 1989), and west of Islas Galápagos (Ahlstrom et al. 1976). Depth: 1 – 800 m (3 – 2,624 ft) (Mundy 2005).
