Type Species: Tryonia clathrata Stimpson, 1865 (by original designation). Diagnosis: (From Hershler 2001: 3) The new species described below are referred to Tryonia on the basis of the insertion of the posterior vas deferens into the postero-dorsal edge of the prostate gland and details of female reproductive anatomy (young brooded in thin-walled albumen gland, bursa copulatrix and seminal receptacle present, sperm duct coiled and opening to bursal duct behind pallial wall; e. g., T. peregrina, described below, Fig. 3). They also closely conform to the genus in all other respects.
