discussion
Note. – Sprengel’ s description and locality (Java, Indonesia) follow Blume’ s account (though Sprengel mistakenly also includes as a synonym Melia excelsa “ DC. ” [Prodr. 1: 622. 1824, i. e., Jack in Malayan Misc. 1: 12. 1820; ≡ Azadirachta excelsa (Jack) M. Jacobs], for which Candolle has a very different description and locality – Penang, Malaysia). See Mabberley (1995 b, under Dysoxylum) for discussion of the close relationship of P. excelsum with P. alliaceum.
